robert1 robert1 ME old hand Registered: 09/27/11 Posts: 717	excellent practioners where, where you live or in ME i know that already but since pr you came out now public does it follow you your history all they have to do with me is type in my social security number and bango im back or least they say so going off meds isnt easy being on them is harder. I have had livid fights with some practioners of natural health that fully believe some people need to be on psyhotropics it numbs your brain i actually was put in the bin awhile back this boy had to go to the bathroom he shuffled by me with a blank stare on his face totally numbed out and out of it he saw me looking at him and made a statement about how he felt and I told him "you know its not you its the medicine they have you on" he told the dr what I had said the dr came storming into my cell (room) cell and started screaming at me for saying something against medication. what would it be like if mental illness could/would be eradicated if no one mentioned it if people could be them and be ok all they need to learn is bounderies and how to find their place in the world where they fit in and are loved and can be a part of society instead of being locked up like caged animals and put on a bunch of medication that numbs their brain so the medical staff will have a puppet to work with?

Loving Mother Loving Mother ME message board member Registered: 06/15/11 Posts: 55	With no disrespect to those who have horror stories of being what is called a "psychiatric survivor" there are many more people who are now living full and happy lives in recovery, with jobs, friends, family due to anti-psychotic medications. The reality that there are many thousands of people who are alive - period - due to medications. There are also many thousands of extremely mentally ill people who were able to get themselves off the streets and into recovery after they began taking anti-psychotic medications. It deeply hurts me when people dismiss those with schizophrenia as mindless zombies. My beautiful, vibrant, loving daughter has schizophrenia, she takes anti-psychotic medication and I can assure you her life in healthy recovery today is a far cry from the state she was in when she lost everything and was living on the streets experiencing constant psychosis due to the fact that she kept refusing medical care and meds. She has been involuntarily hospitalized 4 times and it was a long, hard journey for her to attain the wellness she has today. There is no doubt in my mind she would be dead today if it were not for the fact that I finally went to the courts and asked a judge to require the hospital to provide treatment. For people who truly have bipolar, shizopaffective and schizophrenia, the meds are a life saver, which enables their brain to heal enough to get them into CBT and other psycho-social programs which helps them attain recovery and a full life.

robert1 robert1 ME old hand Registered: 09/27/11 Posts: 717	loving mother I didnt dismiss your daughter as a mindless zombie when they put me on psychotropic medication I became a mindless zombie and I have been involuntary hospitalized more than 4 x and my take on mentally ill people is they are gifted and have deep souls that can see into others deeply gifted I am sorry if I offended you this has brought up a bunch of memories as I was high functioning before I had the break with reality and it was a break my belief is we are all made in the image of God there are no accidents and the pharmacetucal companies are making a fortune off of mental illness mental illness is the # 1 growing business in our country right now they are opening a psych unit here a floor for teens and children so they can medicate them and make them zombies I am sorry Loving Mother I lived on those pills for 27 years it has been hell coming off of them but I can think, I can express myself and I stand up for what I believe I am not liked because of it and I dont get good medical care because of it but there is a answer to healing mental illness there is a book called Dantes Cure by dr dorman interesting book, if anyone needed (by ama standards) to be on medication it was catherine but dr dorman refused he was in residency he refused to put her on medication and this woman was sick, she would come to his office and for one year she would sit in a chair in a fetal position not saying a word not looking at him he continued she today has got her masters and is an advocate for the elderly and mentally ill people and that was done medication free I am sorry my hat is off to the man who worked with me to get off meds it isnt off for the way he denied it and put the gun to my head and didnt pull the trigger but this is a charged issue for me because I literally wasnt able to think on medication

robert1 robert1 ME old hand Registered: 09/27/11 Posts: 717	Loving Mother one other thing when I lived with dr Muller there were two other women that had breakdowns in the house one lost her child and followed my route the other was a japenese woman whose mother flew here from japan took her daughter rented an apt and took care of her and brought her back to wellness without medications and psychiatrists

robert1 robert1 ME old hand Registered: 09/27/11 Posts: 717	enjoy pr but pr you know this i hope no you know this people are put in boxes and classified and once that label gets stuck on you you are stuck in the label you know that and yes loving mother you are a loving mother you love your daughter but have you thought out of the box have you thought wait a minute is there an alternative and pr you said if one truly is schizophrenic bipolar medicine is the answer I dont think you believe that in fact I could bet a guess you dont read the book by dr dorman catherine was way out of it schizophrenic she thought she need to pour oil on her parents and burn them to death she thought she needed to do it to herself but dorman sat with her one hour a day for a solid year with her in a fetal position not looking up or anywhere he interviewed and worked with the family and he refused to put her on meds this was years ago and it wasnt a popular stance back then or now and there are days when I swear I wish I hadnt gone cold turkey off 27 years of 850 mg daily because my life and health has suffered but now if I try to go on a med I have seizures what I think went wrong besides ten zillion other things between the practioner and myself (who worked with me and agreed to work with me then had a mind lapse and forgot to remember he had said that) but it can be boiled down to one word, bounderies and lack of and needing to learn and lsd but if we who took the acid would have been firm in our bounderies we probably wouldnt have taken the stuff one thing dorman did say to me I walked up to him after he spoke and said if someone with a abusive childhood and low self esteem takes acid it cracks them but my point is dorman refused and today catherine is doing fine I think you need to get to the root and tear it or 2 point it out and I dont think psychotropic medicatoins are the answser there is a cure for mental illness people can be healed with a strong support system a whole lot of life and many many many lessons in bounderies you dont go into a psych back ward and learn how to live life you learn how to be better at being crazy and get what you want when you want it because after all you cant help it you are crazy and loving mother Im not putting you down or your daughter you did what you had to do and you asked so this is my input to your question but in no way do i regard your daughter as a zombie haldol made me a zombie along with most the other drugs they put me on
